Could I be pregnant?

If you think you could be pregnant, the best way to tell is to take a pregnancy test. Call us to schedule a free and confidential pregnancy test

Pregnancy symptoms are different for every woman and every pregnancy. Some women will have pronounced symptoms, while others won’t see many at all. That said, if you do notice any of the below symptoms, you should see your medical provider or come in to have a pregnancy test done

Early Signs and Symptoms of Pregnancy

In addition to a missed period, the earliest symptoms of pregnancy might include:

  • Nausea with or without vomiting
  • Tender, swollen breasts
  • Increased urination
  • Fatigue
  • Food aversions or cravings
  • Bloating
I'm pregnant -- Now what?

Once you have confirmed your pregnancy, you have three options to consider:

Parenting

The thought of becoming a parent may seem overwhelming or even impossible right now. Your concerns may include:

  • What will parenting be like?
  • Will my boyfriend want to be a parent?
  • What will my parent(s) say?
  • How will I be able to finish school?
  • Where will I live?
  • How will I support myself and a child?
  • Am I ready to be a parent?

Every pregnancy, whether planned or unplanned, can be scary and bring lots of questions.  We can talk about your concerns with you, listen as you talk through your feelings, and help you decide if parenting is right for you

Abortion

If you are seeking an abortion, it is important to remember that an abortion is a medical procedure. What type will you have? What are the risks? You deserve to know the facts. You owe it to yourself to make an informed decision. You may be facing:

  • Pressure from the father or other family members
  • Financial concerns
  • Difficult circumstances surrounding your pregnancy

Kerman Care Center does not provide or refer for abortion, but can provide you with information about the procedures and potential risks

Adoption

Adoption may be an option for you as you make a plan for your child’s life. You may be thinking:

  • I don’t want to have an abortion, but I’m not ready to be a parent
  • I want my baby to have a two-parent family
  • I want my baby to have financial security

Today there are many choices with adoption. You can choose your child’s parents and be a part of your child’s life if you like, or hear regularly how your child is doing. We can help you explore this option

We are here to listen and help you consider your situation, your goals, and your options

Kerman Care Center has a very strict confidentiality policy. We will not tell anyone about your visit, share your information, or contact you, without your permission to do so. We are here to help you!

Is Kerman Care Center a medical facility?

Kerman Care Center is not a medical facility and no diagnosis of pregnancy will be made.  All tests are self read by the client. We can, however refer you to a physician

Are KCC staff members certified counselors?

Kerman Care Center‘s staff have received training in client advocacy only. Client Advocates do not have academic degrees in counseling, nor are they licensed by the State of California. The client advocacy provided by Kerman Care Center is not intended as a substitute for professional counseling

What do I need to bring to my appointment? Is it really free?

Kerman Care Center is 100% donor-funded which means you don’t need to show proof of income, where you live, or a card of any type. We do not benefit financially from any decisions or choices you make. What does that mean for you? It means KCC is here for you with any of our services

And, yes, Kerman Care Center is always free to anyone in the community, whether you’re from Kerman or any one of the many surrounding areas

Can you refer me for an abortion?

If you think you might want an abortion, here are three questions to ask yourself

1)  Have I taken a pregnancy test yet? — If you haven’t, we can help

2)  Do I know enough about abortion to be confident in my choice? — If not, KCC is designed to empower you to make an informed choice, and we do not profit from your decision

3)  Have I had an ultrasound to see if my pregnancy is viable? — Some early pregnancies end in miscarriages, so it’s good to know that going into your abortion decision. An ultrasound will also alert you if you have an ectopic pregnancy, which can be a life-threatening condition. We have resources to assist you with free ultrasound testing

Of all your choices, this is the most immediately permanent. That’s something to keep in mind if you aren’t sure you want an abortion. It’s also something to think about if you’re feeling pressured to have an abortion. We are here to help you sort through all your thoughts, feelings, and questions. While lots of people around you may have opinions on what you should do, it is ultimately your choice

Kerman Care Center‘s trained client advocates are available to discuss with you any questions you may have regarding having an abortion, barriers to continuing your pregnancy, risks associated with abortion, and alternatives to abortion

We are here to help you understand all your options so that you can make an informed decision.  It is your pregnancy, your right to know, and your decision.  We are committed to providing you with caring emotional support, no matter what you decide

We provide accurate information on all your options, including abortion; but, no, KCC does not provide abortion referrals

    What about abortion pills?

Now that abortion pills are selling off the internet — Ease, privacy, and relatively low cost can seem like an all “PRO” solution, especially when you’re feeling despair, isolation, and fear. Fear of what people will say; fear of your partner leaving; fear of wondering where you will live, how you’ll pay for it, or if you’ll be able to continue your education. It can feel overwhelming!

You are not alone. You can take the time to slow down and breathe! KCC is here to empower YOU to make an informed choice, and we do not profit from your decision — and, of course, whatever your choice, please consult your medical provider

What if you change your mind? Under a doctor’s care, some women have successfully continued their pregnancy and given birth to healthy babies after taking just the first pill (mifepristone) from a medical abortion. Women should not attempt to counteract the abortion pill without the assistance of a medical professional
